Field Lacrosse Registration is on

2010-07-11

Try Lacrosse (for Field) will be held on Saturday, July 17th. This session is specially designed for box lacrosse players. Another session for newbies will be held closer to the season start date.

Welcome to the 2010 Field Lacrosse season!

Registration is now open and we are keen to get our numbers in early. Box players who register now can pay later and still receive the early bird discount (provided you pay before the registration deadline of August 15th).

We received some great feedback last year on how to improve our league and 2010 brings on some important changes:

1.      We will be adjusting our divisions for 2010 to run:
         -       Junior Varsity (Jr High School aged players) Division
         -       Varsity (High School aged players) Division
         -       Open Division
         -       Women’s Field Lacrosse

The primary reason for this change is to better emulate the US lacrosse system, where field lacrosse is in great growth mode.

2.     For Jr Varsity and Varsity, games will be held on Sunday mornings and practices on Saturday mornings at the Burnside Turf Fields. Practices will focus on individual skills development for the filed game (Wildcat Lacrosse is back!!!).

3.     Women’s Field Lacrosse will combine development and games into one session on Saturday mornings at the Burnside Turf Fields.

4.     OPEN division games will move to Friday nights at the Burnside Turf Fields. This will help alleviate conflicts with the MUFLL schedule for officials on Sunday afternoons. It will also allow for some ‘aprés game’ debriefs and trash talk at Boston Pizza (Dartmouth Crossing) each week.

Other important notes for the calendar:

-       Try Lacrosse (for Field) will be held on Saturday, July 17th. This session is specially designed for box lacrosse players. Another session for newbies will be held closer to the season start date.

-       EDGE’88 Field Lacrosse Camp will be held at the Burnside Turf Fields on August 16-18. After a great kick off last year, Zack Greer, the NCAA scoring leader is back in Halifax. For more details or to register, go to www.egde88.com. Note: An Adult Camp is available early evening if there are enough registrants.
