Here is an overview of the 2010 playoff format provided for information from MMLL.
Playoff Formats 2010
Tyke, Novice B, Peewee Club A and B, all Girls Divisions-Regular Season and Playoffs-season will end by June 30/10. Playoffs will begins as soon as regular season is completed. They will NOT conflict with the Garnet Knight Tournament.
Tyke and U12 Girls
- Single elimination playoff schedule
Novice and Bantam Club
- these divisions will be divided into an upper tier (Tier 1) and a lower tier (Tier 2) of equal sizes according to the division based on Regular Season final standings.
- Tier 1 and Tier 2 for each Club division will be “double knockout” playoff formats
Peewee Club A and B, Girls jr and Sr, Bantam Select, Midget Club and Select

Junior B

Tyke, Novice Club (Tier 1 and Tier 2), Peewee Club A & Peewee B, Girls U12, Jr and Sr- to end no later than Jun 30th.
Bantam Club Tier 1 and Tier 2, Midget Club- to end no later than July 11th
Bantam & Midget Select – to end no later than July 18th
Junior B –to end no later than July 18th
Overtime
Playoff games – If tied after regulation
- Teams play a sudden death 5 minutes period 5 on 5 (4 runners plus 1 goalie)
- If no goals are scored, teams will change ends and play will continue until a goal is scored 4 on 4 (3 runners and 1 goalie)
- If a penalty is called in over-time while playing 3 on 3, the player will serve his/her time in the box-the non-penalized team will send a player out to create a 4 on 3 situation for the 2 minutes duration of the penalty.
JUNIOR “B”
Play-off Format
Determining standings – If teams have same number of points, breaking the tie will be determined by;
1. Record against each other
2. If each team won one game, then the team that earned the most points within divisional games will take the higher seed. (placing)
3. If two teams had the same number of points (#2), the team that allowed the fewest goals in all 12 regular season games will take the higher seed.
From Final Standings:
1st place has a bye to the Semi Finals
First series: Game 1 2nd plays 6th place, Game 2 3rd plays 7th place, Game 3 4th plays 6th place, best 2 of 3
Semi Finals: (Game 4) Winner Game 1 plays Winner Game 2 AND (Game 5) 1st Place vs Winner Game 3
Finals: Winner Game 4 plays Winner Game 5
Semi-finals – Best two out of three series
Series A –Winner Game 1 vs Winner Game 2
Series B –1st Place Regular Season vs Winner Game 3
Finals – Best two out of three series
Winner A v Winner B
Scheduling will favor the team who finished higher in the regular season standings. They will have home floor advantage hosting the 2nd and 3rd game (if necessary).
